Motocard.com Kawasaki rider David Salom has topped the first session of free practice for the World Supersport class at Silverstone, putting in a fast late lap to set the fastest time. Salom deposed Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's Fabien Foret by just five hundredths of a second, who was in turn over a third of a second faster than Parkalgar Honda's Sam Lowes. Lowes was the first of a gaggle of British riders, Step Racing's Gino Rea in 4th and Bogdanka PTR's James Ellison 5th fastest. Current championship leader Chaz Davies was nearly two seconds off the pace of Salom, the ParkinGO Yamaha rider ending up in 11th.
