MotoGP: The Championship Gets Framed at the Spanish GP

With a damp but drying track, MotoGP got underway at Jerez, Spain this weekend with Jorge Lorenzo sitting once again at the pole position. A favorite to win at the Spanish track, Lorenzo’s bid for his second race win of the season would surely be challenged by fellow countryman Dani Pedrosa. Always unable to count out Casey Stoner, and with Nicky Hayden and Cal Crutchlow mixing things up at the front, the Spanish GP promised ...

2012 Jerez MotoGP Sunday Notes - Of Rising Stars

The weather may have tried to claim the leading role at Jerez on Sunday, but after three fascinating races, there are still a few stars which easily outshone it. First and foremost is surely Romano Fenati: the Italian teenager won a Moto3 race at just the second attempt, going one better than his first race. Winning was impressive enough - you had to go back to 1991 and Nobby Ueda to find a rookie with a better debut, and Fenati's victory made him the 3rd youngest winner behind Scott Redding and Marc Marquez - but it was the manner of his victory which impressed most. Not only did the 16-year-old keep his head in the treacherous conditions while all around him fell, ran off track or made other serious mistakes, he also managed to run at a pace simply inconceivable to the rest of the field. Fenati was over 1.5 seconds a lap quicker than the rest, and he went on to win by over 36 seconds. This was just his second ever race in the rain (he won the first one, naturally) and he still felt he lacked experience in the wet. His victory received the loudest round of applause in the media center all day.

Alex de Angelis returned to play MotoGP bike for the first time since 2010

Beritai.com – the latest news from the 2012 MotoGP race which we summarized from the site and we present motosports beritai, Alex de Angelis returned menggeber a MotoGP bike for the first time since 2010 in a closed trial in the Circuit Vairano in Vidigulfo, Italy.

But the Republic of San Marino rider is not riding a motorcycle manufacturer Honda Gresini team as he got in the 2008-2009 season, but the motor CRT’s Colin Edwards, Forward Racing Team MotoGP rider.

De Angelis was given the opportunity to try the latest electronic devices for motor-BMW Suter, despite bad weather makes it unable to test with the maximum.

“I am delighted to be given this opportunity, namely to make the motor development of CRT’s Suter and BMW,” said De Angelis. “Our trial was shortened due to bad weather, but very fun to ride a 1000cc bike.”

“We are working on the development of electronic devices in the motor. Things like this are not met in Moto2. I hope I have given the correct data to the Suter and BMW,” he concluded.

De Angelis completes MotoGP™ test for Forward

The Moto2 rider tested some new updates on his team's CRT machine in a test at the Vairano di Vidigulfo circuit.

The NGM Mobile Forward Racing team completed a test on its CRT MotoGP bike at the Vairano di Vidigulfo circuit this week, with Moto2 rider Alex de Angelis working on a new version of the Suter-BMW machine's electronics system.

With Colin Edwards overseas and preparing for the back-to-back Jerez and Estoril Grands Prix, De Angelis stepped up to run the developments, some of which will be used by Edwards at Jerez. Poor weather did affect the amount that was able to be accomplished, but De Angelis was pleased with what was achieved.

"I am very happy to have been considered by the team, Suter and BMW to participate in this test to develop the CRT bike. The test has been shortened due to the bad weather conditions, and we have not been able to do many kilometres, but nevertheless it has been very exciting to ride a 1000cc bike. We have worked on the development of the electronics of the bike, which we do not do in Moto2."

De Angelis added: "I hope I have been able to provide the right feedback to the team, Suter and BMW, in order for them to develop the bike in the right direction. I would like to thank the team for this opportunity. I remain at their disposal to collaborate in future tests."

MotoGP: Thursday at Jerez Round Up: Of Excess Horsepower, Long Runs, and the Chances of Rain

Though the night race at Qatar is spectacular, the paddock at Jerez feels like a proper paddock. There is a bustle missing from Qatar, and the return of the hospitality units means that it is an altogether more colorful place. The presence of the hospitality units also means seeing more old friends, the men and women who slave all weekend putting the units together and ensuring that everything runs smoothly within them, and that the ...
