2011 WSBK Donington Race Round Up - Changing Codes Pays Off
What a strange and interesting weekend the World Superbike round at Donington has given us. That Carlos Checa should win at least one race at Donington was to be expected, but the strong results from the Yamaha camp - in both Superbikes and Supersport - was a bit of a surprise, while the complete meltdown by Max Biaggi was shocking.
To Biaggi first. The Alitalia Aprilia rider started off well, sitting on provisional pole after the first qualifying session on Friday, and joking about how it was both unusual and nice to have people talking about him on a Friday. It all went downhill from there: an on-track run-in with Marco Melandri saw a furious Biaggi stalk into the Yamaha garage, issue a couple of comedy slaps on Melandri's cheek (both meant and received as an insult), getting himself hauled in front of Race Direction and issued a fine (for the slap) and a warning (for blocking Melandri on track, a punishment Melandri also received).

2011 WSBK Donington Day 2 Round Up - The Handbags Edition
After the second day of practice at Donington Park, we should be talking about the way that Carlos Checa blew everyone away on the Althea Ducati. About the way that Checa got perilously close to posting a lap of 1'27 round the revised Donington track. About Leon Haslam's strong 2nd spot on the grid after qualifying, or Tom Sykes' outstanding 3rd fastest time. Maybe we should even be talking about Eugene Laverty's narrow escape when he had a huge crash at Craner, writing off his Yamaha R1. But we're not.
Tonight, all the talk is of a minor scuffle in the Yamaha pitbox, when Max Biaggi strode in to complain about being balked by Melandri during superpole and issued his fellow Italian with a light double tap, before stalking back to the Aprilia garage:

Legends aren’t born everyday, but when they are born they are not recognized immediately. Sometimes it takes us a longer period of time to realize someone’s “LEGENDARY” work. However, when it comes to motorbike racing, there is a person who just came to the this industry and took over it and became a living legend, a think very hard to find these days. Why is he a legend of motorbike racing ?…i will explain that below.
His name is Valentino Rossi, a chap from Italy born 16th February 1979 in Urbino. Following the footsteps of his father, Valentino Rossi started motorbike racing and entered his first race for Aprilia in 1996 in the 125cc racing class. This was the start of a magical career full of magical racing and brave moves. He went through his career winning 9 world championships, yes 9 times world champion of motorbike racing, including 7 championships of the premier class.
Nicknamed “The Doctor”, Rossi always started the race with his race rituals, standing infront of the bike and touching his heals and then holding the foot peg while sitting down. When he is out there, you can expect him to give it all till the very last corner of the last lap. In his career he’s had some rivalries including the likes of Max Biaggi, Sete Gibernau, Casey Stoner and his modern day student, Jorge Lorenzo. Valentino Rossi always had great respect for these riders on and off the field but when it came to racing it was always the bright yellow number “46″ which crossed infront of them.
His most memorable race to my knowledge is the DUTCH TT in 2007, in which he was at one point on 10th place, but somehow…just somehow he managed to win that race out of nowhere and stun everyone, breaking some lap records over and over again. He also had some close finishes with Jorge Lorenzo in the 2009 and 2010, sending the crowd into a frenzy of joy and excitement. At the Dutch TT in 2009, Rossi celebrated his 100th race win, closing down on the great motorbike legend Giacomo Agostini’s record of 122. In the end i will say just one line and will some up this topic about a motorbike racing GOD.

Doha. Australian Casey Stoner won the floodlit Qatar MotoGP season-opener for the fourth time in five years on Sunday ahead of Spaniards Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa.
Starting from pole position after dominating all three practice sessions, Stoner beat Yamaha's world champion Lorenzo by 3.44 seconds at the Losail circuit in a dream debut with the works Repsol Honda team.
The Australian, who raced for Ducati last year, has now won 24 grands prix in the top category.
Spain's Pedrosa, Stoner's Honda team mate, was struggling with a painful arm and looked exhausted after finishing just over five seconds behind the Australian, despite taking the lead on the opening lap and fighting an entertaining duel to the halfway point.
Valentino Rossi of Italy, winner of nine world titles across the classes but struggling with a shoulder injury, finished well off the pace in seventh in his first race with Ducati after leaving Yamaha.
"Definitely, it couldn't be any better," Stoner, the 2007 world champion, told reporters.
"It's a similar start to what we had when we won the world championship. ...we've had some fantastic starts to the season but everything with Honda so far has been just amazing, everything we've done with the bike over the pre-season," he added.
Lorenzo had warned that Stoner and Pedrosa were the men to beat, with Honda fastest at every preseason test, and had said he would be happy to be on the podium.
The Mallorcan exceeded his own expectations and his delight was evident as he punched the air repeatedly as he cruised down the pitlane after taking the chequered flag.
On the victory podium, the Spaniard appeared the happiest of the three with the two Honda riders waving Japanese flags in solidarity with the victims of the devastating quake and tsunami.
"Not so many people thought about us for this race," said Lorenzo. "But we believed in ourselves every day, better and better. Today I put everything I have on the track, I didn't save anything. I was at the limit in every corner and every lap.
"I almost crashed. When you go like this it is very easy to crash." Pedrosa took the lead at the start but was passed by Lorenzo while Stoner hit the front on lap two. The Spaniard overtook Lorenzo for second on the third lap and got back in front of the Australian for a brief stint.
His battle in the second half of the race was for second place, with the two Spaniards dicing with each before Lorenzo made his move stick with four laps remaining.
"In the middle of the race I started having a lot of problems again with my left arm," he said. "I couldn't control the bike any more and I just tried to slow down...I couldn't grip really good or use the clutch in the proper way." Britain's Cal Crutchlow finished 11th on his MotoGP debut with 13 finishers.

Pedrosa's Shoulder Problem At Qatar Down To Plexus Stretch - Full Recovery Expected
After Dani Pedrosa got off his bike in Parc Ferme at the end of the MotoGP season opener at Qatar, it was obvious there was something wrong. The Spaniard was in intense pain, and could barely stand, though he recovered his composure quickly as the evening progressed.
At the post-race press conference, Pedrosa explained he had had a recurrence of the problems which he had suffered after his crash at Motegi in which he fractured a collarbone. As the race progressed, the Repsol Honda rider's left arm became numb and lost strength, making it ever more difficult to ride the bike, and forcing Pedrosa to cede first the lead to Casey Stoner and then 2nd place to Jorge Lorenzo.
Both Pedrosa and the team were very worried by the recurrence of the problem. They had not had any problems with the injury during preseason testing, with Pedrosa reporting just a single twinge in his left arm at the Sepang test, so for the injury to flare up again was cause for concern.
